Tom Penny - A3 Risograph Print - Limited Edition
Tom Penny - A3 Risograph Print - Limited Edition
This picture of Tom is from a mini ramp demo/contest in a tent inside the grounds of an event called Board - X that would take place in Battersea Park, London in November annually in the late 1990s.
Tom is wearing the infamous Columbia walking boots in this shot as was his way at the time. He’s got plenty of his sponsors stickers on display though.
Some people will remember a monochrome version of this picture was used as an Orion trucks advert that appeared in most of the American magazines in 1998.
The original transparency is lost for this as it was probably sent to the US to make the advert for print. If anyone out there has it, let me know!
This colour version is scanned from a UK based snowboard magazine who used the picture to illustrate the fun that was had at Battersea Park that weekend in an article at the time.
This print is made out of a scan from that magazine, so I’ve started with something fairly low quality, then I’ve made a Risograph which further adds to the lo-fi look and feel. In one spot in the top left you get some ‘show through’ from the original magazine page but that adds another layer of ‘authenticity’ to this print. I’ve decided.
There is limited number of these available as is the nature of Risographs so once they’re gone, they’re gone.
This print comes rolled up in a post tube. Keeps the cost down and it’s more ‘lo-fi’.
Postage is now included in the price for a limited time.
What is a Risograph print?
Risograph is a printing technique that has been around since the 1980s which creates stencil paper prints in vivid spot colour inks.
It’s most similar to screen printing in its look and application, with each colour layer printed one at a time.
It has unique quirks which makes it differ from other print processes, which have been embraced to achieve the best results.
This particular print is full size A3 size which is approx 30cm x 42cms.
