In 1994 I was travelling around Northern California with Mike Manzoori. We’d met up with most of the Adrenalin Skateboards team up in Northern California.
After spending most of the day at Santa Rosa Skatepark we all ended up at Boomers Ramp which was nearby for the evening.
So many people were there for this session.
Tom Penny had followed us over there, I'm not sure who he was travelling with but had just arrived in the US from Oxford in the UK and he knew Mike and I really well.
Andy Roy, John Cardiel and Julien Stranger were there with wads of chewing tobacco sticking out their cheeks and dominating the session.
East Coast legends Donny Barley and Abraham Bathgate were also there. One of whom was soon to become a west coast and worldwide legend as well.
All the Adrenaline Skateboards team were there including Joel Price, Brian Gaberman, Jon Miner, Nanda Zipp, Adam Beltz and Chris Senn.
An incredible evening of skateboarding that I feel very lucky to have witnessed.
This particular transparency/slide of Tom was left untouched and rolling around in the bottom of a box until 2019.
The magazine editors of the time, who would have overlooked this and probably thought, “it’s just a kickflip on a mini ramp”. In fairness to them I may have agreed with them at the time.
Now is a very different moment.
