In February 2022 I was lucky enough to be able to do some black and white printing.

This was primarily to show my teenage daughter how the process works but was also a brilliant reminder to me of how difficult the process is.

We printed this picture of Drake because it is one of my favourite ever photographs and because it happened to be on top of the pile of negatives I’d recently scanned at the time.

In the process of printing I probably got a little carried away and I ended up printing 7 or 8 prints in trying to get that one perfect print.

After drying, flattening and ‘spotting’, the process of removing minor blemishes from the print, we were left with four prints making it through our stringent quality control dept.

As February is Black History Month (in the US) a friend of mine suggested I offer the prints for sale to raise funds for a mental health charity mentioning Black Minds Matter at the same time.

These prints are by thier very nature subtly different, so you may not receive the exact same version that is pictured here.

But be assured that the print has been hand made by myself, with valuable assistance from my daughter, in the darkroom under the stairs.
