Channon King - Paternoster Steps - City of London - 1997 - Re-Joiner - 12" x 16" C-Type Print

£80.00

Finally had a chance to put these images back together in the way that I first envisaged when I shot them in the mid 1990s.

Paternoster Square next to St Paul’s Cathedral was a well known meet and skate spot for skaters back in the 90s. The modern architecture of the square, rebuilt after the Luftwaffe had rearranged the area during the Second World War, had been shunned by both the general public and even the Lord Mayor of London at the time. This made for a great place for skateboarders to congregate unhindered by others.

This sequence of images and the single photograph shot a few weeks later with a different technique survives as a testament to Channons skateboarding that was way ahead of it’s time.

It also speaks volumes that we know that Channon did this at least twice.
